Frequently Asked Questions

I can’t seem to get a rating, is there something I can do?

Yes! To increase the ability for the machine to provide an accurate rating it’s important that the images are well light, clean, and taken with the cat’s face in full view. See below for some examples of what to do.

Ideal

Good Lighting, front facing, face in full view

Not Ideal

To increase increase the ability for the machine to provide an accurate rating it’s important for the images to be ideal. Not ideal conditions could reduce the confidence rating.

Below are examples of some not ideal images. Blurry, not enough light, face is not fully in the picture, bad angle or cat is not looking at the camera.

How Does It Work?

What is Artificial Intelligence?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is computer intellect that can perceive, make decisions, and solve problems. AI helps with augmentation and automation of tedious or repetitive tasks.

What is Machine Learning?

Machine learning, a subset of artificial intelligence, enables computers to learn without being explicitly programmed. By looking at a large number of labelled images, machine learning algorithms can find small patterns across an array of pictures and use these patterns to assess new photos. As a dataset grows larger, the artificial intelligence model grows smarter. This allows inaccuracies to be minimized and deeper insights to be brought forward.

What is Computer Vision?

Computer Vision is a type of machine learning that gives machines a high-level understanding of video and/or still images by automating the tasks of human vision, allowing computers to understand and interpret the visual world. Tasks include object detection, object recognition, object tracking, 3D scene construction and more.

So, how does any of this relate to cats?

Tying it all together

The team at Sylvester.AI has created a remarkable AI tool designed to analyze and interpret a cat’s mood based on facial cues. This industry-leading AI is purpose-built to assist veterinarians with decisions by  remotely monitoring cats recovering from surgery or dealing with chronic issues. It combines machine learning and vet-approved pain scales in a new and unique way never before seen in the world of animal health.
